…AND MY SILVER STAG BEETLE
As a small child I was introduced to the work of Sir David Attenborough, starting with the TV series “Life on Earth” – and then watching countless other programmes that he has presented on aspects of the natural world. Even at the ripe age of 90, he is still inexhaustable in expressing his passion and support for environmental causes that are close to his heart, such as “Population Matters” and continues to educate us on the joys of the natural world through his television programmes.
He is an absolute inspiration to many people such as me. By way of a thank you for the impact that he has made on my life, I sent him one of my Stag Beetle ornaments. I received the most charming letter back – which is now proudly framed and on my wall at home.
It seems that my choice of subject matter was rather appropriate as the letter reads:
“Dear Emma Keating,
It was most kind of you to send me your silver Stag Beetle.
He is most handsome and I am delighted to have him on my desk – permanently, as against those that fly into my garden from Richmond Park, but only seasonally.
Thank you again.
Best wishes
David Attenborough”
