Inspiration for my Hedgehog Ring
This hedgehog ring originated as a little hedgehog ornament, modelled to commemorate a little hog named “Millie” who was overwintering in a friend’s shed. The couple were both volunteers at the Hedgehog Preservation Society and so a little hedgehog ornament was the perfect surprise gift from her to him.
He (or she?) remains one of my most popular models. So I shouldn’t have really been surprised when my customer Lia contacted me, insisting that I needed to make her a hedgehog ring. So several dodgy photos later, showing the little ornament balancing on my hand, I embarked on a remodelling exercise. I always loved matching my hedgehog ornament with little individual ivy leaves – and so a wide ivy band was the perfect solution. He may not be the traditional shape for a ring – but he has certainly been capturing people’s hearts since his transformation.
