Inspiration for my Girdled Snail Pendant
This little Girdled Snail Pendant was originally modelled to accompany my Black Slug as a pair of quirky earrings (Slug Earrings – Sterling Silver Studs – Emma Keating Jewellery). The intended recipient was a lady who so loved snails and slugs that she calls herself the “Slug and Snail Appreciation Society” on Instagram. Well she certainly made me look at slugs in a different light. Her mother originally commissioned a pair of slugs – but then the slug-snail combo seemed the perfect mix.
As you probably know, I love modelling local species if I can – so this is just one of the common snails that you find in most British gardens. One of these days I am going to model one of the gloriously big garden snails to accompany this little fella… just as soon as I’ve worked out what the design should look like
If, like me, you have a soft spot for snails, this girdled snail pendant is also available as earrings, lapel pin, charm or simply a little ornament.
