Inspiration for my Bumblebee Ornament
I am lucky to have a wild cottage garden, full of flowers – and it is such a thrill to see a lovely fat bumblebee buzzing around visiting individual flowers. Bees were, for me, the first of the more popular creatures [in jewellery] that I was asked to model but was terrified of trying. What if my model wasn’t good enough? That’s where my “Drawer of Shame” comes in: the holding place for all unfinished and not yet good-enough pieces. Luckily – these cute little bees dodged the drawer. Instead they made it all the way to top of my customers’ favourites list! This bumblebee ornament shows a little bee with its wings tucked in – the vision I always have when thinking about these most loved of insects.
Bumblebees particularly enjoy the oxeye daisies in my garden. So this is a union that I celebrate with my bee & daisy collection – which began with the Bee and Daisy Ring, and continues to grow. Personally, I wear my bumblebee earrings as an odd pair: a solitary bee matched perfectly with a little daisy.
What my customers say:
“I just wanted to let you know that my little bumblebee arrived safe and sound today 🙂 She (definitely she!) is absolutely beautiful! The level of detail is incredible and I’m so happy I have her!
I’d also like to thank you for the extras you included, the polishing cloth, the little leather bag and the postcard of one of your photos.
Thank you so much for such an amazing purchase, …”
