Inspiration for my Girdled Snail Lapel Pin
This little Girdled Snail Ornament was originally modelled to companion my Black Slug as a pair of quirky earrings (Slug Earrings – Sterling Silver Studs – Emma Keating Jewellery). The intended recipient was a lady who so loved snails and slugs that she calls herself the “Slug and Snail Appreciation Society” on Instagram. Well she certainly made me look at slugs in a different light. Her mother originally commissioned a pair of slugs – but then the slug-snail combo seemed the perfect mix.
As you probably know, I love modelling local species if I can – so this is just one of the common snails that you find in most British gardens. One of these days I am going to model one of the gloriously big garden snails to accompany this little fella… just as soon as I’ve worked out what the design should look like
