INSPIRATION for my Scorpion Ornament
Whenever I get inspired to create another piece it’s often because the animal I am drawn to is really rather marvellous. Perhaps it’s their dramatic personality, or that they are structurally interesting – often both. Well scorpions have these features in spades. They also glow in the dark, can live for up to a year without food and they are virtually indestructible. So a scorpion pendant (and hence this scorpion ornament) has always been on my To Do List.
And how wonderful to find that we have our own wild colony of yellow-tailed scorpions, nicknamed the Sheerness Scorpion, (on which this piece is based) here in Kent! Click HERE to read more about these fascinating creatures and see the inspiring photos that helped me to create my model. OK – so I might have super-sized it a bit…
What my customers say:
“Since I really like scorpions, I wanted a very realistic pendant. After looking at many pendants […], I found this scorpion pendant to be the most suitable. Even compared to gold ones, this scorpion was the most well-made and life-like. The underside is not hollow, but fully modeled–like a real scorpion. I love how Emma did the pincers. They are open and ready to “grab”. The tail and stinger are the best depictions I have seen of all I looked at. Why would I want a 14-K gold scorpion that isn’t very detailed when I can buy Emma’s? She is truly amazing when it comes to realism. Being someone that loves detail, Emma’s work is perfect. The 20″ snake chain that I ordered with the pendant is the perfect length, and is plenty thick. It’s a very good quality chain. Emma got my order to me very quickly–great service. Thanks!.”
