Inspiration for my Octopus Ring
I decided that my much-requested Octopus Ring should be based on the Curled Octopus, which is found throughout Europe from Norway down to Greece. It is also known as the also known as the horned octopus, lesser octopus or northern octopus. Unlike other types of Octopus, such as the Blue-Ringed Octopus the Curled Octopus is not venomous. But the reason that I modelled it is because it is one of the marvellous creatures found in British waters – and I do like celebrating our local wildlife where I can.
One of the amusing things in modelling this octopus was deciding what position to model it in. Known as the Curled Octopus, they often curl their arms symetrically upwards. And this seems to be a favourite position for photographers to snap them in. So I struggled to find photos in more natural-looking positions that didn’t remind me of a dancing Disney octopus! So the position of the arms is slightly contrived – but I hope that I’ve got away with it!

Why not pair this ring with something else from my Sea Creature collection: Marine Creatures
