Inspiration for my Garden Slug Ornament
Surely everyone needs a silver slug ornament?! A very good customer of mine approached before Christmas 2020 and asked could she commission a pair of Garden Slug earrings for her daughter who loves all kinds of creepy crawlies. In fact, she has an Instagram page called “The Slug and Snail Appreciation Society”. You should check it out – they really are quite endearing! This was not the usual type of request I receive, although I have been asked recently to do some Woodlouse earrings, so perhaps this is a trend. The common Black Slug, Arion Ater, has a lovely mix of textures which work great in oxidised silver.
Because I also make these as earrings, there is in fact a left and right version of the slug ornament. Unlike the slug earrings, these are fully modelled on the underside as well as elsewhere. They are solid silver slugs (see photos).
When I display mine, I usually pair it with my very cute hedgehog ornament and a little snail friend.
